@Axmedkoole, obviously you know nothing. Engineers don’t “use” multi-million? dollar ships to “learn” things. Also, ships under construction don’t leave the shipyard.

If nothing else, the propulsion power is used to keep the bow to the wind. Otherwise the ship will turn broadside to the waves and there would be a risk of capsizing.

@davetherave7 in serious weather like this the engines and stabilisers are turned off…. the idea is the ship rolls with the waves naturally and there’s nothing to fight them; the ship is also position correctly to ride the waves, it will be taken off course, but once the? storm has passed they can easily make up for lost time
