Question by me :) : Going on Mexico Cruise – Which cruise line is the best?
I’m planning a 7 day cruise to the Mexian riviera and I’m having a hard time trying to decide on a cruise line. Holland is most appealing to me (the shows look great, rooms look good and the movie theater sounds cool!) but I want to make sure I’m making the best decision. It will be our honeymoon and we’re in our thirties. Can anyone offer some advice on what cruise line would be the best for us?

I have been only been on one cruise it was a Carnival Cruise to Mexico. It was a great value for the money. We went for a week and it cost less then just a hotel for the week, plus you get food, entertainment, etc. The food and staff were wonderful. They had lots of activies and entertainment. We spent most of our days in the ports but the evenings and our day at sea was full of stuff to do. I am actually planning another cruise this spring and am going on Carnival again. I don’t know anything about Holland. Hopefully someone will answer who has been on a Holland Cruise.

Carnival has a clothing optional area
it’s an upper deck – 18+ only allowed

ladies may go topless – or more
guys – go more – or leave

    all the best

Question by Shari S: What cruise line offers the best Alaskan cruise?
We are going with friends next year around September. There are so many cruise lines to choose from and selections of places to go that each one offers. What, in your opinion is the best cruise line and places to visit. We are senior adults and do not want a “party cruise” just good sight seeing and relaxation. Thanks

I have been to Alaska twice, once on business for 2 weeks with some weekend sightseeing and then on a cruise. In my opinion the best cruise for you (I am a senior also) would be a cruise-tour. The cruise tour allows you to see more of Alaska by land (bus and/or train) either before or after the cruise. You get to select one or two stopovers in places like Denali National Park or Talkeetena.

Cruises of the inside passage are pretty much the same and usually all stop at the same port cities like Sitka, Skegway, Juneau. When the ships go to where you can see the glaciers the sights are also pretty much all the same. After a while all of the scenery looks about the same; all beautiful. But there is no one place that I would suggest (based on my land and sea tours) you gotta see this.

There are 4 cruise lines which offer this and all would be good. Princess Cruise line, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Holland America all offer cruise-tours.

We did our cruise tour with Princess and it was very good. We did the cruise part first and then had a day and night in Anchorage, a great train ride from Anchorage to Denali National Park, and after a night at a lodge owned by Princess we took the train the next day to Fairbanks for a night there. My recommendation is to do the tour part first and do fly to the start point a day early so you don’t get caught in a flight delay.

All four of the cruise lines that I have mentioned use the train for the land tour. But Royal Caribbean, Princess, and Celebrity have special domed train cars that provide great visibility. Not all tour segments are the same so you really have to pay attention to how the land tour is organized and whether it uses the train or buses.

You will do well to book your cruise now for next Sept to get the very best price. Sept is a great time to go to get good prices because the last couple cruises of the Alaska season are always the lowest priced. The weather is also likely to be pleasant, although not as warm as mid-simmer. We did out cruise tour in May, before summer months, and the weather was very nice, mid 70′s. The further we went north the warmer it was. It will be rainy in a couple stops like Ketchcan and Juneau; just take a rain poncho.

Question by tjracer30: Whats the best cruise line for 22 year olds?
Looking to go on a cruise with a bunch of friends we’re all over 21, and want a cruise line with good nightlife/clubs, and entertainment. None of us have ever been on a cruise and don’t know what included in the price and what isn’t. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

none. unless there is a 25 yr old in the cabin, you will not be allowed to travel unless you are married.

cruise lines stick to the us age for doing things. 21 to drink, and 18 to gamble.

NOT included: tips and gratuity of 10$ per day per person. supper club, bingo at 10$ per card, sodas, alcoholic beverages, spinning class, bottled water, photos, souvioners

INCLUDED: all the food you can eat except at specility coffee shops, all other entertainment.

Question by tommygirl_200: Best Cruise Line for Mature Young Adults?
My boyfriend and I are planning a cruise during March 2008. I am graduating college this year, and he is already in the workforce and we are both 21. We’re looking for a cruise line that will offer fun activities that don’t revolve around getting trashed. We also love any excuse to be formal. Is it safe to say we will enjoy the Royal Caribbean cruise more than the Carnival cruise? We want to avoid the typical spring break crowd, but not be the only younger people on the boat. Any advice?

            Best answer:

            Answer by Pavel
I would avoid Carnival if you want to avoid slobbering drunks. I would also avoid Princess – my wife and I took a Pricess cruise this spring and, in our mid-thirties, were on the young end of the spectrum, especially if you discount kids.
I’ve never been on an RC cruise, but I suspect you will still be some of the younger people there. They key is to sign up for fun activites at the various stops. For instance, if you did a zip-wire or white water rafting trip, chances are there won’t be too many grandparents on the trip.
But mostly, a cruise is about having fun with each other. If you make some friends, great, if not, who cares.
And all cruise lines, as far as I know, have formal nights, so you’ll have chances to get dolled up.
            Bon voyage
