HOUSE PRICE DILEMMAS versus boat sales.

    (PRWEB) July 18, 2004

Trends are now changing, with the high price house market reaching an all time high, first time buyers are turning towards purchasing a boat to live aboard.

The practicability being, with average costs running from approximately £10.000 for an older type craft, to the brand new craft priced at between £50,000 and £60,000, buyers are realising the cheapness of this type of purchase, compared with the cost a house purchase.

The yearly upkeep costs are also a plus, average cost for mooring, heating and running the engine when required, total to only around £2,000 yearly.

Compare this to running costs involved in owning a house, the rates, electricity and gas bills, to name just a few, which add up to an enormously higher cost.

Another advantage, the postal service is less frequent and this allows you time to relax, from all the junk mail, which seems to increase daily.

Owning a boat also gives you more freedom to venture to other places. Say you want a meal out plus a few drinks, easy just cruise up to a mooring near the selected venue and enjoy yourselves, even if you drink more than would be permitted to drive, you are only a few yards away from home and cosy surroundings.

You maybe require, to be nearer where you work, again just take a cruise and moor up as near as you can to work, this cuts down on travelling costs incurred with owning a house, you could also nip home at dinner time and surprise your other half.

Owning a brand new boat and living aboard until the house prices go down, could be advantageous because lived in boats do not tend to lose their value in the first few years, in some cases their value will increase.

This would give first time buyers and people looking to make a quick profit from the sale of their house, somewhere to live until the housing market prices subside.

The above is not me trying to encourage people into buying a boat, I have received numerous emails from sellers who have sold their boat, to young first time buyers who have been unable to commit to the higher end housing market.
