Question by Chef Allen: Working for a cruise line is a dream for me?
I would like to work for a Cruise line Especially for NCL, i have sent many resumes and many applications but i never get a call back? How does one go about this? It is my dream to work on a cruise ship!

Where are you sending the resumes to? I had tried a couple of times to get a job on a ship, sending/posting my resume on the cruise line websites. But the first round I didn’t get any response.

It varies a bit depending on what sort of position you are looking for. Make sure that your resume highlights your qualifications. If you don’t have direct experience, then make sure you explain related experience in your cover letter.

Really, the key to getting a job is to find a reputable recruiting agency in your home country – which isn’t always easy. If you know of anyone that has gotten a job, find out the agency they used. Start asking around, let family/friends know you’re looking, and find out if they know of anyone who works on a ship.

Sometimes there isn’t any demand for a certain job, so even if you’re qualified, they may not have any interviews because they know you’ll be waiting for months before getting a contract (and before they get paid by the lines).

The link below was very informative for me when I first looked for a job, it has some info about life onboard, as well as some links for recruiting agencies. Not all listed are definitely legit, so use your intuition. Never pay recruiting agencies, they are scams, the agencies get paid by the lines for getting you hired.

I’ve worked 2 contracts in Guest Services, go back in Sept for a third. Good Luck!

WDWRadio.com – Disney Cruise Line debuts the cruise industry’s first-ever shipboard water coaster — AquaDuck — aboard the new Disney Dream. Guests have the opportunity to get swept away on an exhilarating flume ride above the upper decks of the ship — and even out over the ocean. I had the opportunity to ride the AquaDuck (more than once!) on the Christening Voyage of the Disney Dream on January 19, 2011. I had read the releases, seen the concept art and computer-generated ride-throughs and thought I knew what to expect. I didn’t! The AquaDuck is an experience unlike any other (one of many like that on the Disney Dream). It’s both an exhilarating “E-Ticket” theme park attraction at sea, but it’s also a 765-foot long lazy river, with views that can only be described as spectacular. It’s something that elicits the same reactions (screaming like a giddy schoolgirl) from adults as well as kids. Disney has once again set the bar, exceeded expectations, and over-delivered on their promise of an attraction unlike any other! And while words can’t describe the experience, neither can any video you might see, but I wanted to share part of my experience with you, as well as those of some friends who were on board with me – Chris Brogan (http and Twitter.com and Andi S. from the Walt Disney World Moms Panel (DisneyWorldMoms.com and http AquaDuck Fast Facts As a convenience to guests, a conveyor system lifts rafts up from Deck 12 to the ride launch on Deck 16 AquaDuck is the first
